Today we can study, work, be business owners or be in charge of a company, but this was not always the case. March 8th is International Women’s Day as established by the United Nations (UN) World Organization in 1977. This date was chosen because, in 1908, workers at the Cotton Textile Factory in New York went on strike, demanding better working conditions.
The women locked themselves inside the factory, but a fire caused the death of more than 140 workers who could not escape the fire.
